Abstract
November 18th is designated European Antibiotic Awareness Day (EAAD), an opportunity to raise public and professional awareness about the threat of antibiotic resistance to public health, and the importance of prudent antibiotic use. First launched in 2008,1 EAAD is an initiative of the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC),2 supported by other professional bodies including the World Health Organisation, the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases and the Health Protection Agency.
