Abstract

At the 10th Annual conference of the European Public Health Association (EUPHA) 2002 in Dresden, Germany, the congress abstracts were published in a supplement of the European Journal of Public Health for the first time. The European Journal of Public Health (EJPH) is EUPHA’s scientific periodical – in fact it is owned to one third by Karlstad University, Sweden, to one third by Oxford University Press and to one third by EUPHA itself. Thus, it is reasonable that the abstracts of each EUPHA congress should be published in the society’s own journal. I appreciate that this is being continued by Walter Ricciardi, the organizer of the Rome conference and president-elect of EUPHA. Hopefully it will become a tradition for future conferences like those in Oslo, Norway 2004, in Graz, Austria 2005, and in Switzerland 2006.
