Abstract

The euonymus scale, Unaspis euonymi (Comstock) infestation frequency was measured on 5 species and varieties of Euonymus. Euonymus japonica var. aureovariegata was infested more frequently than ‘Grandifolia’, var aureomarginata, cv ‘Silver King’, and cv ‘Silver Queen’. There were no differences in infestation rates among the other four cultivars. Plants located in “protected” environments had a significantly higher rate of infestation than plants located in “unprotected” environments. There were also significant differences (∞ = 0.05) in rate of infestation related to age of plants, with older plants being more heavily infested.
