Abstract

Innovation boost from new Web Service A major development in access to research and development information has been announced by CORDIS, the European Union's research information service. From the beginning of November CORDIS has expanded its World Wide Web activities to encompass its complete information resource. Previously restricted to its popular `News on the Web' facility, this extension at URL http://www.cordis.lu/ will allow many more users to take advantage of the CORDIS service, assisting the drive to create an environment of innovation across Europe. The new service now allows Web users to access the full CORDIS service, which for many years has been providing answers to a wide range of research and development questions: * For the businessman it offers an insight into developments that affect his business prospects; it can also help him to find partners and funding to develop his own ideas. * For the researcher it gives the results of existing research programmes and can also provide a forum to announce his own results. * For anybody wishing to find out the details of the various programmes supported by the European Commission, it provides contacts and announcements; it also provides an on-line dictionary of acronyms for those who need assistance in deciphering programme abbreviations.
