Abstract

Significance Aimed to connect Skopje with Sofia and financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the EU, the 89-kilometre line advances the completion of Pan-European Corridor VIII running between the Adriatic and the Black Sea. Impacts Infrastructure projects in the WB will create demand and offer opportunities for local and EU-based companies. National authorities will continue to generate infrastructure projects to take advantage of funding opportunities. EU will outspend China other external donors in funding transport infrastructure in the region
