Abstract

This is the second edition of this reference work, which was first published in 2010 under the editorship of Kay Hailbronner. Like its predecessor, the bulk of the text sets out to cover the primary aspects of the European Union (EU) secondary legislation which makes up the corpus of EU Immigration and Asylum Law, now enacted pursuant to the provisions contained in Title V, Chapter 2, articles 77–80 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (TFEU). It therefore now contains a full analysis of the important recast instruments which formed part of the second phase of the Common European Asylum System (CEAS), as well as bringing the review of Entry Controls and Immigration up to date as at the beginning of 2016. It can fairly be considered to have established itself as one of the most comprehensive commentaries on the subject available. There are, however, some important changes of approach in the present edition.
