Abstract

The luminescence properties of europium and dysprosium ions co-doped zinc–aluminoborosilicate glasses were analyzed. A combination of blue, green, yellow and red emission bands was shown for these glasses, and white light emission could be observed under UV light excitation. The color of luminescence could be adjusted by varying the proportions of europium and dysprosium. The concentration quenching effect was also investigated in this paper. Furthermore, the reduction of Eu 3+ → Eu 2+ in air at high temperature was observed in the zinc–aluminoborosilicate glasses.
