Abstract

ABSTRACT A collection of Antennariidae from the Dahlak Islands and the Gulf of Aqaba is analyzed. Among the three species from Dahlak Antermarius chlorostygma is reported for the second time since its first description in 1837. Seven different species have been found in the Gulf of Aqaba, of which Antennarius immaculatus is a new species. Uniantennatus caudimaculatus is discussed in detail. The richness and archaic nature of the Antenariidae fauna of the Red Sea is emphasized.
