Abstract
AbstractSubstituted imines (donors) and acceptors such as the chloranil (CHL), the bromanil (BRL) and the 2,3‐dichloro‐5,6‐dicyano benzoquinone (DDQ) form charge transfert complexes in the liquid and solid states. Physico‐chemical properties as well as the reactivity of the complexes have been studied.Complexes maximal wave lengths and their formation constants and the ionization potentials of the donors have been determined by UV‐visible absorption spectrometry. The CTC formation is confirmed by infrared, CNMR, and mass (electronic impact method) spectra. The unexpected formation of the substitution derivatives of the CHL and the BRL has been investigated and explained.
