Abstract

The Mo¨ssbauer resonance spectra of the fluorides isolated in the SrF 2 SnF 2 system have been investigated. The study has been extended to SrSnF 4, SrSn 2F 6, and SrSn 4F 10 over the temperature range 4.2 ⩽ T ⩽ 473 K in order to appreciate the evolution of the recoilless fractions. An estimate of the ionicity of the bonding orbitals has been proposed. The Goldanskii-Karyagin effect is observed for the three fluorides.
