Abstract

The geological—stratigraphic study of the two islets Ro and Stronghili indicates that they belong to the same stratigraphic unit as the adjacent island of Castellorizo and form part of the upward evolution of carbonaceous sediments. The limestone unit on these islands ranges stratigraphically from Maastrichtian up to Middle Miocene. Concerning the geotectonic position of the sediments of the Castellorizo complex in relation to Hellenides and Taurides, they are relative to the autochthonous series of Bey Daglari in Asia Minor, appearing also as features of the limestones of the Preapulian (Paxi) zone, developed in western Greece.
