Abstract
The anodic behaviour of a group of metals (manganese, zinc, cadmium, copper) in borate buffer solutions containing different aggressive anions was studied. The breakdown of the passivity was examined by means of stationary potentiostatic and transient galvanostatic pulse measurements. The literature on the passivity breakdown is briefly reviewed at the same time as the results are discussed.
