Abstract

Al Ni, Al Mn and Al Zn dilute alloys were studied by low angle X ray diffraction, in order to determine if the solute is really dispersed. For obtaining the best dissolution, Al Ni and Al Mn were rapidly quenched from the melt, and Al Zn was quenched from an homogenization temperature. The regrouping rate is small for Al Zn and Al Mn, while Al Ni always shows variable dimension heterogeneities. In all cases, the structure evolves rapidly by annealing at temperature higher than 300°C.
