Abstract

Etnopedagogi katoba as character education model has been studied in ethnic Muna. The purpose ofthis study was to understand the process of implementation katoba ritual, knowing construction of people's minds about the ritualsof ethnic Muna katoba and know the value substance contained in Katoba tradition and where the relevance in character education and environmental education for children. This research is a qualitative research on the community in Muna, the Socio- Anthropological approaches, the research concerned with the study of man and society, interaction and social facts of both. This research data sources such as traditional leaders, religious leaders, indigenous people Muna. Data collection techniques used in this study using three ways namely interview, participatory observation and documentation study. To maintain the credibility of the research done a few techniques that extend the observation period, continuous observation, triangulation of data and Member check. The results showed that the ritual katobais a form of character education and education ofthe child's environment that includes the opening (dofetapa), the priest introduced the terms katobain children, leads a child to give istigfar followed by uttering two sentence screed and finally gave an explanation of the meaning katoba and do prayerled by priests. The context of the implementation of katoba ritual taught to children is a form of affirmation of a child as amark of Muslims and Islamic status of a child. Teachings given by the priest to children in katoba ritualis a set of ideas, idea sorvalues that are very deep in herited by the an cestor and became very comprehensive local knowled geto shape the character of a child in interacting with Allah, humans and the environment.
