Abstract

Abstract Disodium calcium versenate has been used to effect mobilization and removal of excess iron stores in a case of hemochromatosis. A threefold increase of urinary iron was observed during administration of the drug. A rapid fall in the patient's prothrombin activity was noted as the only untoward effect of the procedure.
