Abstract
Anthropogenic interactions shap e the biodiversity of the terrestrial ecosystems . If the human needs are given due orientation, they can be made in to a conservation effort, for the sustained use of bio logical resources. A study was carried out to know the relations between the threatene d flora and the indigenous community. The eastern ghats of Tamilnadu was surveyed in three districts with reference to the ethno botanical perspective giving due emphasis on the threatened plant species. The present study reveals the reason for the conserv ation status of certain medicinal plants as well as new avenues for management of these threatened plants.
