Abstract

ABSTRACTThe present study documented and analyzed the traditional treatment of arthritis by different communities in Siddapur Taluk of Uttara Kannada district, Karnataka. In all, 51 medicinal practitioners were interviewed and 36 plant species belonging to 30 families used for treatment of arthritis were documented. The quantitative ethnobotanical data calculations included relative frequency of citation and family importance value. Of the 36 plants recorded Artocarpus hirsutus and Mammea suriga are endemic to India.
