ETHNODIALECTIC FEATURES OF KOSTROMA OMENS, RELATED TO NAMES OF BIRDS AND ANIMALS (BASED ON V.I. SMIRNOV'S MATERIALS)

Abstract

The article, based on the materials of ethnographic notes by V. I. Smirnov «Folk funerals and lamentations in the Kostroma Territory», analyzes the names of birds and animals found in the folk omens collected in the late 19th and early 20th centuries by the members of Kostroma Scientific Society specialised on the Study of the Local Territory, thematically related to funeral customs and rituals, identifying their ethno-dialectical features, which are a hallmark of a special ethnocultural zone - the Kostroma Volga region.
