Abstract

The article is devoted to the peculiarities of the development of ethnic tourism in the Primorsky Territory at the present stage. Ethnic tourism today is considered as a way to preserve and popularize the ethnocultural heritage of peoples. The article characterizes the approaches to the term “ethnic tourism” of domestic and foreign researchers. It is worth noting that in the world literature the terms “aboriginal tourism” and “indigenous tourism” are found, which can be used synonymously in relation to ethnic tourism. In the domestic literature, the term “ethnic and ethnocultural tourism” is used. In world practice, unique experience has been accumulated in the development of tourism in places where indigenous peoples live. In the Russian Federation, ethnic tourism, especially in terms of indigenous peoples, is also gaining popularity. First of all, this is due to the multinationality of the state. Primorsky Krai has great potential for the development of this form of tourism. On the territory of the region, there are ethnocultural complexes, national parks, and villages where indigenous peoples live preserving their unique ethnic culture. The external attractiveness of ethnic tourism, upon deeper analysis, demonstrates features that are manifested in both the positive and negative impact of its development on the traditional culture of the Aboriginal people. The paper concludes that at the present stage of the development of ethnic tourism, there are a number of other problems that hinder its development. In the first place, this is the inaccessibility of the places of traditional residence of indigenous peoples, the underdevelopment of transport infrastructure, the consequences of the pandemic, and the ambiguous attitude of the bearers of traditional culture towards ethnic tourism.
