Abstract

Costume carries the traditional ethnic culture, and expresses the significance of cultural representation and the collective memory of ethnic groups. Participating in traditional ritual activities and producing cultural practices has become a considerable part of maintaining social relations and inheriting conventional culture in contemporary society. People wear ethnic costumes to participate in the process of social interaction and inherit their cultural traditions. At present, the myriad academic studies pay attention to the historical changes and the category of shaping technology of traditional clothing of Uzemchin Tribe by describing folk customs and sorting historical documents, and analyzing the cultural connotation of clothing by means of patterns and symbols. Folk custom constitutes an important element of life, and also weaves the social order network. This article explicates the cultural integration functioning and representation of ethnic costumes from the perspective of custom interaction of Chinese Mongolian Uzemchin Tribe, and grasps the cultural and social functions of ethnic costumes in modern society. In this research the specific practice of Mongolian costumes in social interaction, the role played by folk events and the expression of costume feelings are presented in the form of ethnography of qualitative research to analyze the content of maintaining social relations of costumes. It involves the traditional reproduction and preservation caused by modernization and globalization. The results manifest that the participation of ethnic costumes can better maintain local folk traditions and regulate local social relations.
