Abstract

THIS is an attractively illustrated and very readable book but one which nevertheless cannot be altogather rocommended as a reliable introduction to the subject. Any attempt to study the great world religions which treats them as, in essence, no more than a number of ethical systems, converging towards something like agreement, inevitably fails to do justice to the specific differentia of each particular religion. Ethics of the Great Religions With some Account of their Origins, Scriptures and Practices. By E. Royston Bike. Pp. viii+247+20 plates. (London : Watts and Co., 1948.) 15s. net.
