Abstract

According to Hountondji, African Philosophy must aim at developing science and technology using African source materials for the progress of African societies and solving some of the myriads of challenges facing the continent through analytical philosophy. To him, the sources of African Philosophy are hard to authenticate and therefore the so-called African Philosophy can best be described as myth. We conclude that if progress can be made with African development through philosophy, then we need the authentic philosophical research works of all the ethnophilosophers, including new knowledge on African culture and traditions, as well as outside Africa to further our African Philosophy.
