Abstract

John A. Kessler, an eminent researcher, clinician, and educator at Northwestern University was interviewed by Teresa A. Savage, Associate Director of the Donnelley Family Disability Ethics Program at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. The topic is the ethical issues in stem cell research, but Kessler also comments on the funding of stem cell research, research oversight, criticism by some in the disability community that stem cell research diverts resources for improving the lives of people with disabilities, and his personal knowledge of spinal cord injury through his daughter’s experience.
