Abstract
With the advance of research into increasingly international contexts, and the momentum of this progress driven primarily by researchers from western or "developed" countries, inevitable tensions and dilemmas have arisen in these world crossings. This paper discusses troubling confrontations of assumptions and practices and proposes that researchers view these challenges as opportunities for re-examining and reflecting on such matters as uncontested norms of truth, methodologies, and positions of power.
