Abstract

The four major faiths of South Asia and their ethical traditions are surveyed in this article: Hinduism, Jainism, Buddhism, and Sikhism. It analyzes and enhances the ethical argument made for each faith, with scriptural citations where applicable to show their teachings used to understand violence, peace, and conflict. It also looks at the influence of religion and how that manifests itself into religious nationalism as seen in India and neighboring countries.
