Abstract
Pretreatment of chick biventer cervicis preparations with ethanol (290 mM) potentiated the EC 50 of choline, acetylcholine, carbachol and phenyltrimethylammonium 91%, 319%, 97% and 213%, respectively. Perhaps this interaction of ethanol and neurotransmitter could contribute to the effects on coordination and motor activity produced by ethanol in vivo.
