Abstract
Introduction: Pancreatic ductal epithelial cells (PDEC) have important roles in the maintenance of pancreatic integrity and bicarbonate secretion. Excessive ethanol consumption is one of the most common causes of acute pancreatitis, but the effects of ethanol metabolites on PDEC are unknown. The aim of this study was to characterize the effects of ethanol and its non-oxidative metabolites on PDEC.
