Abstract

symmetry state admixture in the wave function of the nuclei. In the case of the 4n + 3 nuclei, if we build the wave function as the antisymmetrised product of the wave functions of a core -of 4n nucleons and of 3 external nucleons, the mixed symmetry state of the 3 external nucleons gives a cross term in the Coulomb energy which is responsible for the different behaviour in the Coulomb energy for the 4n+3 and 4n + 1 nuclei. An estimate deduced from the mirror nuclei data gives a contribution around 3% of mixed symmetry state for the levels l=l (8<A<16) and 1.5% for the levels l=2 (16<A<28).
