Abstract

[Et3PNI)2I]Cl — a Donor‐Acceptor Complex of N‐Iodo(triethylphosphane)imine with Iodine Monochloride[(Et3PNI)2I]Cl (1) has been obtained by the reaction of the silylated phosphorane imine Me3SiNPEt3 with iodine monochloride in dichloromethane suspension in the presence of cesium fluoride. 1 is characterized by IR spectroscopy and by a crystal structure determination. Space group P21/n, Z = 4, lattice dimensions at —50 °C: a = 717.0(2), b = 1244.7(6), c = 1278.0(8) pm, β = 91.30(5)°, R1 = 0.0654. In the ionic structure of 1 the cation [(Et3PNI)2I]+ consists of two N‐iodo(triethylphosphane)imine molecules INPEt3, which are centrosymmetrically connected by I+ via their nitrogen atoms.
