Abstract

In the spectrophotometric determination of Aluminum in cements after an acid decomposition of samples in a teflon bomb the Al3 + ion is complexed with 8-hydroxyquinoline (oxine) and extracted in chloroform. After destroying the oxinates, the Aluminum content is spectrophotometrically determined with Alizarin S (Alizarinsulfonic acid sodium salt) which forms a stable orange-red complex at pH 4.6.
