Abstract

This article aims to examine the behavior of the language Shanenawa in the case of the stress clashes on the compound word level, i. e., if this language, like many others, demonstrates rejection of sequences of stressed syllables. Furthermore, we analyze whether there is some kind of morphological determination for secondary stress and the relation of this stress with the syllable weight. To this end, our research is based on the studies of Kenstowciz, Hayes, Spencer and also a metric grid proposed by Liberman and Prince. The analysis is based on data from recordings of words pronounced by native speakers of that language.
