Abstract

This article analyzes the mechanisms of male domination present in taekwondo sport. This space works as a microcosm that visualizes the power relations between men and women in Mexican institutions. The research was carried out with a male athlete, a female athlete, a coach and a taekwondo sport manager. It was through discourse analysis, obtained through semi-structured interviews, that it was possible to build categories of analysis. As results, a heteronormative coexistence regime was found. However, there are women who develop female resistances aimed at achieving permanence in this sport.
