Abstract

The nuclear hormone receptor estrogen receptor alpha (ERα) is a well-known transcription factor present in many breast cancers, where it promotes cancer progression. In this issue of Cell, Xu etal. report that ERα is also an RNA-binding protein and that its post-transcriptional activity enables cancer cell fitness and survival.
