Abstract

This work analyzes the perceptions of the graduate young people about their current working condition and the relation they establish with scientific research during the undergraduate, in a context of unemployment and precarization of the labor relationships. The study was conducted through interviews and a questionnaire applied to egresses of the following courses: Geography, History, Pedagogy and Library Science, at the State University of Santa Catarina (UDESC). The intention was to grasp how the grant, or any formal link with scientific research during the undergraduate period, contributed to a different insertion into the labor market. The main results of this research indicate that the condition of grant holder, whether scientific initiation or other types, has helped to engage in research without the immediate worry in seeking a source of income outside the academic realm. However, certain economical stability of their parents, as verified through steady employment condition and/orretirement, has a preponderant weight in this process. Also was possible to evidence that the fact that these young people are bearers of the graduate degrees, and even postgraduate, did not imply in the obtainment of the desired trajectory – steady employment with a wage corresponding to the level of formation – on the contrary, in the testimonials stand out feelings of frustration and insecurity in front of professional career future.
