Abstract

Villani-Côrtes has become a well-known composer in Brazil and abroad and in academia. Due to the scarcity of academic works, this text is dedicated to the process of preparing the performance of the Concerto for Flute by this composer, trying to place it in the traditional context of the instrument. As a theoretical reference, the work uses today's pillars of perfor-mance studies: Rink and the relationship between musical performance and musical analysis; Chaffin and performance dimensions; Ericsson's deliberate practice study; and Jørgensen with the application of strategies for efficient practice. As a work methodology, the con-structed procedure will be a case study, that is, the preparation of the performance of the Con-certo for Flute, in which there is a brief contextualization and analysis of the work, selection of excerpts based on the theoretical concepts mentioned, as well as the selection of practices and presentation of study strategies for preparing the performance of these excerpts from the concert.
