Abstract

This work analyzes the importance of strategy changing to perform a turnaround to avoid the decline in the music industry. Som Livre, a Brazilian music label, is used as a case study to exemplify the turnaround process. Turnaround frameworks were used as model to find if the strategies prescribed in the literature were actually used by the company. The decline of the music industry has its roots in the Internet, and in this new context, the case here detailed shows that a strong competitive position helps in the turnaround process, but the companies should also invest in assets that truly have value for the customers of the music industry.
