Abstract

A method is presented for the estimation of viability differences in experimental populations, based on single generation changes in genotype frequencies. Approximations for the variances and covariances were derived using the Δ method and these have been tested numerically with a Monte Carlo procedure. The approximations appear to be satisfactory for sample sizes of about 1000 or more. The limitations of the method are discussed.
