Abstract

A number of applications of the well-known inequality for means ψ(ƒ)>ψ( ƒ) , where ψ is a convex function, are described in applied problems of the theory of thermal explosion and ignition, and the theory of radiation transport. Qualitative results are obtained on the existence of critical conditions for explosion and ignition, for the finite period of induction of an explosion etc. and quantitative estimates are obtained for a number of physical quantities.
