Abstract

In this paper, we present a new approach based on scattering inversion process using a Small Perturbation Model (SPM). Indeed, The SPM model has been used to estimate physical proprieties of water area such as the temperature and salinity properties. Then, these water parameters are used to estimate Total Dissolved Salt (TDS) on Terra SAR-X (TSX) images. The surface parameters have been extracted from backscattering coefficient which is directly calculated from TSX images. To validate our approach, a tow dataset of in situ data have been used to evaluate the estimated parameters from TSX images. The results show that the TSX is helpful to improve the estimation and mapping of water physical proprieties for the practical use in the study area with high accuracy. This result will help us in future to estimate other parameters that concerned to the water quality.
