Abstract

A Monte Carlo method was used in a deterministic compartmental mathematical model to specify the value of two important epidemiological parameters of the epi-enzootic disease of fox rabies. These parameters were the length of the incubation period and the dispersion distance of cubs. It is found that the epidemiological characteristics of fox rabies in Europe are linked to an incubation period greater than 25 days and a dispersion distance of fox cubs less than 8 km.
