Abstract
Faraday effect is a magneto-optical effect that produces the rotation of the electric field vector of light propagating through an optical material subjected to a parallel external magnetic field. This has been largely used for many applications, but never on biological systems. This study demonstrates the estimation of polarization rotation in biological tissues using a Mueller optical coherence tomography system. In the future, this experiment should be reproduced with complex biological tissues, in order to estimate by means of the phase shift the real penetration depth of light into biological tissues.
