Abstract

AbstractAn approach for estimation of the bar structure safety is presented. It is assumed that the structure is made of an elasticperfectly plastic material, with random lengths of the elements, random dimensions of the cross‐sections and material parameters, is subjected to the dead and variable live loads and works in uniaxial state of stresses. It is also assumed that the probabilistic characteristics of the random parameters are known and that all random variables are mutually independent. As the structure safety measure the reliability index is regarded. A new formula for reliability index estimation is proposed. (© 2005 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)
