Abstract

The reduction of thallium(III) with glyoxal is catalyzed by light especially in the presence of bromide ions. The reaction is also catalyzed at higher temperature. Based on this reaction, a convenient method is described for the estimation of thallium(III) alone and in mixtures with thallium(I).
