Abstract
In this article the values of the radiative parameters for atomic manganese were determined by means of a semi-empirical method. The eigenvector amplitudes determined in our previously published research were adopted. The calculated values of oscillator strengths and lifetimes are, in the majority of cases, in good agreement with experimental data. The results were also compared with available theoretical calculations. On the basis of the calculations performed, as well as related available literature data on transition probabilities and excited levels’ lifetimes, possible clock transitions in neutral 55Mn were proposed; three candidate transitions were considered in this context. Possibilities of laser cooling of manganese atoms were also discussed.
