Abstract
A simple calorimetric method for the determination of propranolol hydrochloride has been worked out. The method involves nitration of the drug with a mixture of potassium nitrate and sulphuric acid. The coloured nitro-derivative has an absorption maxima at 360 nm. The working concentration range is 10–50 μg/ml. The method is applicable to analysis of pharmaceutical preparations.
