Abstract

The estimation of near surface velocity models of unconsolidated sand bodies is a significant target for seismic exploration data processing. Surface wave analysis can be applied to retrieve S-wave velocity models which are inverted assuming a power-law trend in agreement with loose sand mechanical properties. Here we show that if higher modes are retrieved, also P-wave velocity models can be inferred from the surface wave inversion
