Abstract

Morphometric parameters are the key parameters for drainage basin, watershed planning and analysis. In this current study we emphasized on the morphometric characteristics of Talcher, it is situated at the Anugul province, Odisha. A meticulous case study was conducted, ASTER data and GIS are used for preparing the DEM, assessment of areal, linear and relief aspects of morphometric parameters. ArcGIS-10.8 software is used for the scrutiny of the study, Surface tool is used for the preparation of contour, slope-aspect, hill shade, and ArcHydro tool is used for the watershed border, flow accumulation, flow direction, flow length and stream order. 53 morphometric parameter have been calculated in this study. This research can provide a thorough justification to help with future morphometric research analysis, which is also highly helpful for planning watershed management and rainfall harvesting.
