Abstract

Estimation of communication overhead and transfer delay in a distributed computing networks play important roles in designing a load balancing strategy. There is a need for prediction of maximum value of communication overhead and transfer delay for the effective implementation of load balancing strategy on the distributed computing network. This paper formulates the estimation of maximum communication overhead and transfer delay using the basic parameters of the distributed computing network (DCN). The effects of variations of these parameters are studied with respect to the number of processors in the distributed computing networks. The proposed methodology of estimation is applied over different computer networks configuration like linear, ring, completely connected and mesh (with/without wrap around). It may be preferred over static/dynamic load balancing strategies for efficient load transfers in a distributed computing network.
