Abstract

In a high-speed optical network, the preliminary consideration for a free space optical (FSO) link is the reliability of data communication under various atmospheric conditions, which provides a quality connection to the end user. This paper mainly focuses on the estimation of a quality parameter link margin (LM) in a FSO link. LM is calculated based on the meteorological data obtained at various smart cities under different weather conditions and geometrical attenuation. The availability of FSO link in an optical network is evaluated in terms of LM, which forms to establish a quality based network route for data transmission. The network performance of the proposed scheme is analyzed in terms of blocking probability (BP).
