Abstract

The objective of the present investigation was to estimate heterosis and inbreeding depression controlling the agronomic traits and yield and its components of 4 barley crosses, by means of the six populations (P1, P2, F1, F2, BC1 and BC2) of the four barley crosses. Results revealed that, positive heterotic effects relative to the mid parent and better parent were found for most of the studied traits under both conditions. Generally, the most promising crosses were the two crosses 2 and 4, were found to be higher in magnitude, which will be interest in breeding programs for improving the most studied traits in barley.
